Alaris | Chapter 2 Release!


The Second Chapter of Alaris is officially out now!

It’s finally here! The second chapter of Alaris!! Thank you to everyone who has been so patient, kind, and supportive while I’ve developed this thing. The kind words honestly mean the world and make such a difference <3 I’m so proud and excited to announce the official release of Chapter 2!

In this release, you’ll be able to enjoy some new features as well as more developed old ones, like our new dragon energy vision and the expanded personality function. You’ll also obviously be able to read the next chapter to our little world. For those who are new to the game and for those who have already played the first chapter, we hope you enjoy this release and the new content that is featured! Without further ado, we would like to present Chapter 2 :’)

Current Demo Features:

  • ~40k Total Words of Gameplay, including both core content and additional content (via Free Time Dates)
  • Expanded Personality Feature: Make a variety of choices that will influence and shape your personality AND start to see these choices pay off in Chapter 2 :D
  • Free Time: Go on a date with any of the Four LIs currently available (Kayn, Druk, Fenir, or Etza | Only Market Date available for now)
  • Dragon Energy Vision: Unlock the ability to see the cast’s (only LIs for now) dragon energy, a core ability special to the MC
  • Other Extras: Track your personality in the Stats Menu, Learn more about the world through the Codex, revisit CGs and scenes, and more!
  • Five total CGs & New BGs and Sprites!

Little Developer Tidbit:

Truly can't believe we actually made it to release. There really were a couple moments early in this year (weird to say early considering we are still only in February) that I was really struggling with, well basically everything (game development, personal stuff, professional stuff, etc.). I'm really happy to be able to release this and I know I keep saying it but I appreciate every single word of support so much <3 I see a lot of times where content creators really just aren't treated human almost, so it makes the biggest difference to have people comment or message me little words of support and encouragement. 

Just a couple notes, I've implemented some script changes for Chapter 1 based on feedback and have carried some of that writing into Chapter 2 so hopefully everything feels a bit more cohesive. I'm definitely very new to creative writing, so one day I would love to take an editor on board, but for now, I think the quality is hopefully sufficient given my current capabilities and resources :') Reading comments (both positive and negative) often makes me want to throw up because this project is very much a passion project, so it's a bit vulnerable to put it out on the internet to have opinions on. But I still obviously appreciate the time people take to say something, especially when it's constructive and supportive. Again, this chapter isn't a final version - I'll be adding another Free Time date and fine-tuning Free Time in general so it's cohesive across chapters and the plot. For now, please note Free Time is still under revision so if you notice strange discrepancies... well, I'm working on it (eventually lol)! Other than that, the plot, personality mechanisms, and dragon energy should be pretty accurate to what the planned final product was. 

Also, if you run into any issues and you've played Chapter 1 or previous versions of the game, I'd recommend starting a new save file and skipping the text until you get to where you were previously! I've moved some code and script around, so it could create weird things if you have a save file from an older version of the game. If the error persists, please feel free to let me know in the feedback form. Speaking of feedback form, if you have any feedback, I've added a link into the main menu to a form you can fill out. You can talk about bugs you encountered, small discrepancies, general constructive feedback, or just nice words! Anyways, I hope you all enjoy this update <3
