Intertwine Out Now!

I write this in a haze of madness as the clock to the end of Otome Jam 2023 counts down. Our Otome Jam 2023 submission is finally here (with less than 30 minutes to spare WOO)!

I am beyond excited (anxious, maddened, numb, many emotions here) to release my first full game ever, intertwine. I thought of this concept sometime at the end of 2022 and have sat on it for an extremely long time, never really thinking I'd release it until after Alaris, my main game in development. A couple months ago, after joking about joining Otome Jam 2023, I was encouraged to actually join by a couple of very sweet dev friends (hi robo, anna, and mell!!! <3333). I ended up pulling an unironic "Haha, jk... unless...?"

Cut to a couple days into May when I decided to actually join Otome Jam (when it had already started lmao), and some other talented friends offered to help me bring this thing to life (HI ALLIE, KAI, AND JOY <333). And here we are less than two months later with a completed game! I want to get sentimental, but I know that's not what we care about in this household. So instead, I shall sell intertwine to you all like a girl scout selling thin mints, and keep my mushy stuff for the end.

What is Intertwine?

Without giving spoilers, this game is inspired by the red string of thread. We hope players are able to experience not only a love that transcends lifetimes, but also different types of love. What does it mean to be someone's soulmate? Do soulmates even exist?

Overall, the game is quite short, clocking in at a little under 15k words, but we hope the experiences it leaves players with will be multifaceted and sweet. A central question that is asked in the game is: "Would you choose me in every lifetime?"

Aside from that, you'll just have to play the game to get more details. Sorry, folks!

Intertwine Features:

  • Customizable Name and Pronouns
  • ~15k Words (Estimated 1-2 Hours of Gameplay)
  • 6 CGs
  • Partial Voice Acting
  • Music Room & Original OST (courtesy of the very talented FaeField Productions)
  • A love that transcends lifetimes (specifically with our love interest, Van, who is charming, sweet, aggravating, and everything in between)

We hope you all enjoy our little game made in only two months <3 All I leave you with is this: Have fun Following the String ^^

Finally, to my little team, I am very bad at voicing my appreciation for people, but:

Thank you to Allie, Kai, and Joy for spontaneously helping me the past two months. There's no way intertwine would've happened if it weren't for you all, and I am so grateful for the talks, laughs, ideas, and level of thought, detail, and support you all gave me. I only have my head intact because of you, so thank you for all the time you gave little old me to bring this game to the level of quality we were able to get it to :')

To my playtesters, thank you for playing multiple builds, putting up with me and all the little kinks that had to be ironed out before the public release. You all didn't have to put the level of detail and time into playtesting intertwine but you did. You all were so instrumental to making sure this thing was playable and up to par for a public release, so THANK YOU <33

To FaeField Productions, you all know how much of a fan I am of you. Thank you, Orpheo, for the spontaneous collaboration. I never would've imagined intertwine would have seven custom tracks within two weeks of release. Thank you to Orpheo and Kija for the talent and level of detail you put into this music. I know for sure players are going to enjoy it as much as I did, and I'm so honored to have been able to work with you in this whirlwind of the last two weeks!!!!

My brain officially can't do anymore, so that's all I'm able to string together in my current state of mind. But thank you again for anyone who had a hand in bringing intertwine to life, whether you were on my team, offered words of encouragement, etc. I can't express how much I appreciate it, and it's been such an experience to take part in Otome Jam!!!! <3333 HOPE YOU ALL LIKE VAN
